A farmhouse holiday in Grosseto means enjoying fully the culinary tradition of Tuscany Maremma. The range of typical food produce and dishes is huge, but we can suggest a special treat, once reserved to the noble class of the region, despite its name: the fisherman fettuccine ("fettuccine del pescatore"). The main ingredients are scampi, oysters, arugula, salt, pepper, garlic and extra-virgin olive oil: a festival for seafood lovers! If you prefer more "earthy" flavours, you can ask your farmhouse's landlord in Grosseto: fragrant wild mushrooms are widely common in the Maremma country and they are the basic ingredient for a homemade mushroom soup, best accompanied by garlic bread and parmigiano reggiano.

Churches and palaces in Grosseto have lived and transformed themselves throughout the centuries: they host different masterworks of important Tuscan painters and sculptors, ranging from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The typical brick walls surround the historic part of the town and provides it with a romantic and dreaming-like atmosphere.
A farmhouse holiday in Grosseto becomes for most people a lifelasting good memory. Maremma sightings are unique and covey a sort of magnetic and wild appeal. That's even more evident in the area of Cape Argentario, along the southern coast of Tuscany. In ancient times Cape Argentario was a little island in front of the Tuscan coast, but the debris transported by the rivers to the sea connected the island to the continent and created the famous laguna of Orbetello, a well renowned naturalistic oasis. Other main towns along the coast are Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.
If you're staying in a farmhouse in Grosseto, you'll have the chance to discover a young and brilliant town, only a few kilometres away from the coast and the Thyrrhenian Sea. The center of the town is its most ancient part, a walled medieval pearl which has been the heart othe town for centuries, while the modern town has been branching out outside the imposing brick walls. The most characteristic monument in Grosseto is the main cathedral, the "Duomo", a rare example of a rose-and-white-striped facade. Grosseto cathedral hosts interesting works by Tuscan painters and sculptors such as Andrea della Robbia and Matteo di Giovanni.
